Penn Repub Prez Primary Results..What!?

Wed Apr 23, 2008 at 05:24:28 PM PDT

I was reading the results of the Pennsylvania primary and noticed something strange. McCain lost about 26% of the vote. I have not heard anyone mention this on tv or radio though. See below for the details.

GOP Strawpoll Results from the Illinois State Fair

Thu Aug 16, 2007 at 07:37:27 PM PDT

The Illinois GOP decided to get into the straw poll act today at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield. The turnout was low according to observers but the results were a little surprising to me.

This Op Ed piece is in the Springfield Journal Register today. It is interesting as this is a Republican leaning paper.

Blagojevich continues to lead in Illinois

Thu Aug 10, 2006 at 01:38:07 PM PDT

In the race for governor of Illinois, Blagojevich continues to lead Judy Barr Topinka. This race is considered to be somewhat of a toss-up due to questions about Blagos ethics and financial stewardship, among other things. The results continue to be promising. More below the fold.

Wed Aug 02, 2006 at 10:26:16 AM PDT

I was browsing through Daily KOS yesterday and noticed that one of my Senators, Senator Durbin, had not committed to net neutrality. I decided to email him with my concerns and got a response this morning. See below for the response.

Bush Oil Buddies Get Richer, Middle Class Get Hosed

Thu Jul 27, 2006 at 08:12:48 AM PDT

I heard on Paul Harvey this morning some comments about the huge increase in oil profits again. Of course, the oil companies have great explanations for these profits and can justify them with ease. I am not sure how they can keep a straight face while doing it though. Well, the profits are huge.

HELP! I have been asked to run for State Rep in Illinois

Fri May 12, 2006 at 06:48:15 PM PDT

Help me out fellow Kossacks. I have been asked to run for state rep and don't know what to do. The incumbent has been in office for about 15 years and has run in this area (re-districted) since 2002. He had no opponent last time. I got a call from our county chairman last night and was asked if I would be interested in running. I am currently on the local school board and have served 6 years on our county board (2 years as chairman). The Governor is not popular in this area and I think that could really hurt me. Also, the guy has about 20,000 in the bank and I, like any working class Democrat, have nothing. Tell me what you all think and help me with the decision. THANKS!

Illinois Governors Race Could Be Interesting (Plus Poll)

Thu May 11, 2006 at 06:56:15 PM PDT

I looked back over the last 350 diarys and didn't see anything about this. It looks like Senator Meeks may actually make a run for Governor after all.

There are just three weeks to go until primary day in Illinois. We have several races on the Democrat side (Gov. and Treasurer) but the real interest seems to be who will win the Rethug knod to take on G-Rod for Governor.

Another Poll to Freep...Bush getting a "A" Rating

Wed Feb 01, 2006 at 05:19:07 PM PDT

I know most Daily KOS people are probably tired of polls. But, when I read this one and realized that Bush was winning with a grade of "A" on his SOTU I thought I might get some help to make it closer to reality. I don't know who these people are who have voted, but either they are blind to facts or they watched a different speech. Anyway, your help is greatly appreciated. Follow the link below....

Illinois Governor announces $10 million Stem Cell Program

Tue Jul 12, 2005 at 11:20:59 AM PDT

This has just come out and has been titled for "Immediate Release" by the Governors office. The consevatives here will be up in arms about this one. The State Comptroller, Dan Hynes, has pushed for something like this for quite awhile and seems to be happy with this announcement. Blago is not too well liked in Illinois and will need more announcements like this in the future to appeal to moderate voters if he wants to hold his office for another 4 years.  See the link for the details.

State By State Poll Results for W..Where Does Your State Stand?

Tue Jun 28, 2005 at 06:20:38 PM PDT

I can't believe that W's numbers have actually gone up in some places. Of course, it seems he continues to do well in the reddest of the red states. I don't know if we can ever make substantial inroads into those places because I don't think those people want to hear anything other than right wing garbage. I am surprised at the higher Approve numbers that he has gotten in Florida.  I guess maybe the military bases there had an impact.  But, look at Mass. #'s.  W is up 4 points there. At least it appears those of us in Illinois are headed in the right direction.  Take this link and check to see what the poll takers at Survey USA say about your state.

Choice for DNC Chair (with poll)

Fri Dec 31, 2004 at 11:24:19 AM PDT

It looks like the race for DNC Chair is heating up. The four regional DNC meetings will be in Atlanta (1-8), St. Louis (1-15), Sacramento (1-22), and New York City (1-29). According to Jerome Armstrong over at MyDD, Drivingvotes.org will be organizing roadtrips to the events and you can sign up there for more information. But, I wonder what my fellow KOS members think. Take the poll and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Adopt a Soldier

Wed Nov 24, 2004 at 04:44:38 PM PDT

A radio station in St. Louis has a program where you can adopt a soldier for the holidays. They are stationed all over the world and will not be with loved ones for the holidays. I know the vast majority on KOS disagree with the war, me included. But, for the holidays I am adopting a soldier to try and make his time a little more bareable. I hope you all do the same. Post it when you adopt someone and so we can keep count. Thanks and Happy Holidays!

God bless the elderly

Mon Oct 25, 2004 at 06:52:17 PM PDT

I got a call last night from my aunt and uncle. Both are in their late 80's and wanted to know if I would stop by today after work and help them with thier absentee ballots. They prefer to vote that way because they get too nervous to vote in person and don't really trust the system anymore. When I went by, their daughter and son in law were there too. They are very nice people but are right wing Repubs who love Bush. When it came time to vote, my aunt (God love her) told them to stay in the living room why we went to the kitchen so "you don't get mad when you see us vote". They both voted straight Democrat and have high hopes for Kerry. Let's all make sure we get every vote and make everybodys vote count.

This will put a smile on your face

Sun Oct 17, 2004 at 09:52:31 AM PDT

I look at different posts and get the feeling that some people think the sky is falling. I remain confident in a Kerry/Edwards win on 11-2 and this link shows you why. It syas that Kerry will win the electoral college by a probability of 56.931%. His expected winning electoral vote margin is 6.4 votes. So, look at the link and smile. Don't get complacent and think it's all wrapped up but there is no need to panic. Things are going our way and in a few more days this four year nightmare will come to an end.
